Typography is used to provide character to many forms of visual communications. Think of brands that are represented by their assigned typeface ... as in The New York Times. Or, look at Coca Cola or the boldface of FEDEX.

Typography executed without regard for any design standard ... or simply used poorly, can have negative results. You've seen the nearly unreadable instructions on food packages, the really messy signs, and hard to read words presented so tightly together line by line. Yes, type can be displayed in a positive light or be come together as a bad experience.

Infact, in some cases you'll just ignore the words thanks to the absence of any worthy type crafting.
